After a well-circulated demo tape and a string of successful shows, American Nightmare established a relationship with Boston's Bridge Nine Records. Shortly thereafter, they entered the studio and recorded their now classic, self titled debut CDEP/7"EP for that label. A record which not only redefined the traditional hardcore approach, but reclaimed it and gave new life to the then suffering hardcore scene.
Touring and more touring ensued (playing shows with everyone from Madball to Converge, Amen to Boy Sets Fire) and the band's vicious live show and die hard work ethic quickly became legend.
